Member’s Elham Valley Sponsored Walk

Centre member John (St Mary Bredin Church) along with 2 others from the Christian Aid Canterbury Committee, Lucy (St Peter’s Methodist Church) and Brian (St Dunstan, St Mildred, and St Peter Church) have completed the Elham Valley Way (22.5 miles) walk from Hythe to Canterbury on Tuesday 27th July.

They were raising awareness and funds for Christian Aid, which is an international development charity working in some of the poorest countries to help people out of poverty and focuses on the effects of climate change.

Christian Aid

Fighting the effects of climate change is a key priority. Christian Aid has been working alongside farming communities in Malawi and Kenya, the indigenous people of the Amazon, families living in extremely flood-prone areas in Bangladesh and with many others who have faced the devastating impacts of climate change for years.

The dual crises of climate change and coronavirus are hurting the most vulnerable the hardest. Christian Aid is responding to the pandemic in Africa, Asia and Latin America, working with partners and faith leaders to offer vital hygiene training, equipping health facilities with supplies and providing food packages to the most marginalised families.

Elham Valley Way

The Elham Valley Way leads from the popular coastal town of Hythe, to the internationally renowned Cathedral City of Canterbury. Taking walkers through enchanting countryside and the Kent Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The ancient woods, classified as dating from before the 17th century, are carpeted with the flowers of bluebells, anemones and spring blossom.

Please visit their JustGiving page to support them and donate towards Christian Aid, helping those in extreme poverty.
