Member’s Channel Swim Both Ways!

This August, Centre member Justin will be attempting something that only 2 other UK men have done before! He plans to swim the English Channel solo both ways, non stop, no tea breaks just full on intense swimming!

Justin is aiming to raise £40k for Windchimes Charity, a residential short break service providing respite care for children who may have learning disabilities, social communication disorders and complex health needs. Families raising disabled children are struggling emotionally and financially due to the impact of lockdown. Children have been pushed to “breaking point” during the pandemic, as parents have been unable to access support that was in place before the Covid-19 outbreak. Justin is hoping to raise enough money to send the children from Windchimes on a memorable and magical trip to Lapland.

Over the years Justin has pushed himself raising thousands in sporting activities but has always had a love of swimming.  On 6th August 2020 Justin swam the English Channel solo 1 way, which he completed in 11 hours and 36 minutes. Justin raised over £25,000 to support Blood Cancer UK and NHS Charities Together. Justin never thought he could do last years challenge but yet here he is again. Justin quoted “If you believe in yourself, anything is possible”.

On 28th June 2021, Justin swam from Samphire Hoe to Calais as part of a 4 person relay team as training for his swim. The team finished the swim in 11 hours and 33 minutes.

We wish Justin all the best for his swim. Please visit his Go Fund Me Page, as they are currently trying to secure match funding, sponsors and donations.
