Member’s Tour of the Alps
Centre members and brothers Tony and Frank recently completed a cycle tour of the Alps. They starting at Annecy in France and ending at La Grave, climbing over 3600ft over 300 miles. A total of 9 cols were completed in 6 days (cols are the lowest point of a ridge or saddle between two peaks, typically providing a pass from one side of a mountain range to another), the cols include:
- Col de la Forclaz
- Col du Grandon
- Lacets de Montvernier
- Col de la Madeleine
- Col du Galibier
- Col du Télégraphe
- Alpes d’Huez
Tony said “a fantastic journey of pain, excitement, scary descents and the absolute elation of completing all of them in 30c to 32c sweltering heat. It was our first time cycling mountains and what an incredible experience”.
There next tour planned is Portugal, so we will look forward to hearing about their next journey.
